Comfort Maximized From New Plants to Furnace Service

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s hardly any daylight, it can be tough to always feel like your home is a comfortable place to be. That goes far beyond doing annual furnace service too, because there are a variety of things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your furnace is operating at its peak.

Here are a few that we find very helpful here in Hickory:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean a great deal of air is escaping your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is heading outside too. There are a variety of choices that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are pretty easy fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
  • Swap your furnace filter. This is one of the most critical things you can do to not only boost your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can do it yourself. It’s typically recommended to change your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some could last even longer.
  • Add plants. Indoor plants can provide a number of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually pleasing, they may likely better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of pollutants that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having furnace service done annually helps you be sure that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be fixed so your comfort isn’t conceded.

It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 828-283-0369 to hear about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
